Our History

Koʻolau Baptist Academy was originally organized as Windward Christian Academy in 1974. Approximately 30 students met in a small A-framed annex building, an old modular real estate office that was moved onto the property. Initially, A.C.E. (Accelerated Christian Education) material was used, enabling the school to teach a wide range of students. Beginning in 1990, the school began to use A Beka Book curriculum in a traditional classroom setting. Over the years, the Lord has blessed Koʻolau Baptist Academy with good growth, both in its academic program and in the number of enrolled students.

Although the Academy has always been an integral part of the religious training of Koʻolau Baptist Church, the name was officially changed to more accurately reflect the true relationship between the church and the school.

Beginning in 1991, Koʻolau Baptist Academy became a member of the American Association of Christian Schools and a charter member of the American Association of Christian Schools - Hawaii. Since its inception, biblical training, affordable tuition, small classes, strong academics, and godly teachers have characterized the distinctively Christian education offered by Koʻolau Baptist Academy.
